L’augmentation du nombre des personnes âgées en France et de l’incidence du cancer bronchique avec l’âge fait que l’incidence des cancers chez la personne âgée est en constante augmentation.
Jusqu’il y a peu, il était recommandé de traiter par monochimiothérapie les personnes âgées. Une étude française vient modifier ces recommandations puisqu’en utilisant une association paclitaxel-carboplatine hebdomadaire versus paclitaxel seul, on constate un gain significatif sur la survie globale et la survie sans progression.

The increase in the number of elderly in France and of lung cancer incidence with age result in a stedily increase of the incidence of cancer in the elderly.
Until recently, it was recommended to treat them by monotherapy. A French study has amended these recommendations. When using a weekly paclitaxel-carboplatin versus paclitaxel alone, there is a significant gain in overall survival and progression-free survival.
