Résumé

Videoscopic or minimally invasive technology has been applied to the diagnostic, staging, and treatment phases of the management of patients with cancer. Diagnostic videoscopy is used in the initial evaluation and diagnosis of malignancy, whereas staging laparoscopy is used as part of an algorithm to determine the most appropriate therapy for individual patients. Both modalities are used in conjunction with conventional radiologic and pathologic assessment and may be augmented by the addition of laparoscopic sonography or peritoneal lavage and cytology.
