Résumé

Although the mechanics of the development of pleural fluid is the same in both adults and children, the evaluation of the pleural effusion in infants and children differs from that in the adult by cause, symptom presentation, character of the fluid, techniques for diagnosis, treatment/management, and prognosis. We focus on these differences.
