Sarcome alvéolaire primitif du poumon - 08/04/09

Introduction Le sarcome alvéolaire des tissus mous est rare, il s’observe surtout au niveau des membres inférieurs chez l’adulte jeune et au niveau de la tête et du cou chez l’enfant. Sa localisation primitive au niveau du poumon est exceptionnelle.

Observation Nous rapportons un nouveau cas chez un homme de 49 ans qui a consulté pour une douleur thoracique évoluant depuis un mois. L’imagerie a objectivé la présence d’un processus tumoral au niveau du lobe supérieur du poumon gauche. Le diagnostic de sarcome alvéolaire était posé par l’examen histopathologique du prélèvement biopsique. Le caractère primitif pulmonaire était retenu après avoir éliminé une localisation au niveau des parties molles.

Conclusion Le sarcome alvéolaire du poumon est exceptionnel, son diagnostic ne doit être retenu qu’après avoir éliminé une origine au niveau des parties molles.

Background Alveolar soft part sarcoma is rare; it mainly appears in the lower extremities in adults and the head and neck in children. Primary pulmonary occurrence of this tumour is exceptional.

Observation We report a new case in a 49-year-old man who presented with thoracic pain developing over one month. Imaging showed a tumour in the left upper lobe. Diagnosis of primary alveolar sarcoma of the lung was made by histological examination of a biopsy specimen and elimination of a primary soft tissue tumour elsewhere.

Conclusion Primary alveolar sarcoma of the lung is exceptionally rare and the diagnosis should only be made after eliminating a soft tissue tumour elsewhere.
