Nous rapportons le cas d'une endocardite mitrale à Streptococcus pneumoniae chez un patient alcoolo-tabagique de 43 ans. L'endocardite était associée à une pneumopathie, une méningite et à un abcès cérébral. Seule l'échocardiographie trans-oesophagienne permettait d'identifier la végétation. Le patient était traité médicalement avec succès.

We report a case of mitral endocarditis caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae in a 43 year old man with history of alcohol abuse and cigarette smoking. The pneumococcal endocarditis was associated with pneumonia, meningitis and brain abcess. Only transesophageal echocardiography could confirm the presence of vegetation. The patient was treated medically with good results.
