Resumen

Image-guided percutaneous catheter drainage is an alternative to traditional surgical management of focal intrapulmonary air and fluid collections. The procedure is safe and effective and has been used increasingly to manage patients with intrapulmonary abscesses and mycetomas. Percutaneous catheter drainage has also been successful in the treatment of infected traumatic pneumatoceles and bulla. This article reviews issues related to percutaneous drainage of intrapulmonary air and fluid collections, including the indications, technical considerations, and results of these procedures.
